Knowing it is a flop ?

There was one thing which struck me recently one my way back to Hosur from my home town. There is very good multiplex near salem bus stand (ARRS Multiplex) . I happened to see it everytime i go to salem Bus stand.

I saw a poster in front of the multiplex saying (Audio casette free for those who watch this movie getting a balcony ticket). If i remember correctly the name of the movie is Arpudham. Wht a marketing tactics ?.. Awestruck by it.. I dunno whether they want to ditch off the unsold casettes or whether they want to gain the audience for the movie by giving free tickets.

I think this is becoming a trend in tamil cinema these days. People invest their hard earned(??) money in producing movies with newbies knowing that it would be a flop. Do they want to get popular just by entering into the movies and showing their faces? or is it they just simply love cinema and doesn’t get the guidance from there. This is where i love the character of one such guy. He is none other than Oscar Ravichandran. He is the happening producer in tamil, but till not many out the industry had seen his face. Even i was trying for a photo of him . Can anyone help me with it ? Not eveyone will make movies like Sethu, Chitiram Pesuthadi with new faces everywhere and make them hit. It doesn’t even happen once in a blue moon(Such rarity is the case).

I know a couple of such people who were part of film production. They were not faring very well in this mystery business. But till now they never lost interest in the movies. Recently one such movie is released. Everything is new in the movie other than the supporting actors and the music dept. The movie was made with the budget of 2.7Cr(as said by him) and released with 30 prints. ie., it has to collect atleast 9L in each centre to breakeven atleast. None other than the superstar can collect more. I happened to watch it. Not worth to say anything about the movie. Even i would direct a better movie. Remember it was also one of the movies affected by the sivaji mania. This movie was supposed to be released for tamil new year. It was postponed till last week due to the sivaji fever.

I asked the guy about his next plan after this terrible experience. He said they will produce one more movie to compensate this with a much familiar hero. But this time the director is the producer himself who doesn’t have any experience behind the cameras still. This is where i was spell bound. Is it because of his love for the movies or because he wants to become popular with media showing his face all around. Though i wished him the best, I’m still not convinced why do they make such movies and lose out their money knowing it is a flop ?

Hogenakal – unknown wonder to many

After some serious plans me and abhi went to hogenakal last month.

We started early morning at 6:15 from Hosur. The shorter route we took was Hosur-Denkanikotai-Natrampalayam-Hogenakal. The total distance was some 85 kms. The road was quite good in most distance and very bad for the last 10-15 kms.. But overall itz okie considering not much traffic in that road and very short comparing the krishnagiri route.

The road was quite scenic for half the distance atleast. It was too good as it is early morning. We reached there around 8:30 in the morning. After having our breakfast, we took the boating. The package was Rs.500 for 3 hrs into the water. We started at around 9ish. There was quite some gun in the ride. One thing amazes me was the kids who dive into the 30-40 feet of water for meagre 5 rupees. Bravo.. Hats off kids

They say itz better to visit hogenakal in the tamil month of Aadi(mid July – Mid Aug). During this season the water level will rise 20-30 feet more, there would be lotta water streams and many exotic locations around. We are planning again with in this month

We took oil massage for extra 100 bucks from the same boatmen. Though i can’t say it as massage. Then there is fresh fish available. Itz not so hygenic but it didn’t spoil my stomach but its quite tasty and spicy. Finally we took bath in the sitraruvi (small falls) in which we had better massage. Itz damn cool. we were inside it for more than an hour.

Finally we were out by around 12.00. Then we had our lunch. The hotels near by were pretty if not superb.. We started from there around 2:00 and reached hosur in another 2 hrs..

It was one day full of fun and new experience. Will try again

In the Tribal world for 2hrs 17mins

After some “Must watch” and “not 2 c” comments i watched “Apocalypto” yesterday night. Watching it alone had more fun indeed

It was really an amazing experience. Atleast i’ven’t seen such a movie so far. I cannot term it good or bad, but i njoied it right from the word go. Earlier i liked the actor/director Mel Gibson from Brave Heart, but now itz a step above.. I really adore him. The story is very simple about the story of the tribes. But the emotions, acting & screenplay is simply superb. So i give a 4 star rating to this one. I think the story is made at the mexican backdrop. By the way can anyone tell me what is the meaning of “Apocalypto”.

I planned to watch crash, night at museum and city of god next. If anyone wants to watch this movies please let me know. I’ll try to offer my help.

Why this name

I think i have kept a proper name for my blog this time..

I have tried blogging thrice earlier. It never contained more than a single post in the past. I even forgot those URL’s .. Untiringly I’m trying this for the fourth time now. So is this name “GHAJINI”.. Letz c how for this one goes. Please cheer me up to find some interest and time for blogging.

I chose wordpress becoz for the past 3 times i failed when i used blogspot.. poor sentiment.
